FALL!
Fall is a time of change! As summer fades, the days shorten and the temperatures cool; the green of summer is swallowed up by the strokes of the master painters brush. Splashes of red, yellow, orange and purple dot the landscape. The hot humid days of summer begin to give way to sweaters gloves and hats. Winter is on the horizon. Your lawn and landscape begin to prepare for the sleep of winter. As time progresses there is much to be done to assist your lawn in its preparation.
First: a good deep core aeration with a rotating tine aerator will loosen up the turf. This will provide relief from compaction and allow moisture and nutrients to adequately penetrate the root zone of your turf. The grass will smile back at you as it greens up and strenghtens for its winter sleep.
Second: a good application of winter fertilizer to provide the necessary nutrients for a healthier turf. This will encourage a quicker deeper greenup in the spring. Healthy turf resists disease and pests. GO GREEN with natural organic fertilizers.
Third: an ongowing Fall Cleanup program is necessary to remove the leaves and debris from the landscape. If this is not done the leaves and debris will compact into the turf and suffocate the turf, eventually killing otherwise healthy turf.
Dont neglect that very beneficial aspect of your landscape; the LAWN. Keep it healthy with a little regular maintenance and enjoy the benefits!
